About our Booth
Welcome to the holiday magic and mayhem. To celebrate Holiday Matsuri's historic 15th year, Studio Shay: The Naughty & Nice Edition is turning the portrait experience into an interactive game of fate.
We're completely dividing our studio archive for the weekend. When you step into the booth, your mission is to choose which side of the ledger your cosplay belongs on
The Nice Book
For the wholesome, the heroic, the elegant, and the pure of heart. Expect soft, prestine, angelic lighting that captures every beautiful detail of your craftsmanship
The Naughty Book
For the villains, the chaotic, the rebels, and the mischievous. Expect dramatic, high-contrast shadows and high-energy directing that lets your dark side shine.
This isn't your average, washed-out convention photo booth. We're bringing a fully realized, boutique studio set to the floor. With the added fun of seeing which book will win at the end of the weekend.

Declare your alignment. Halos, horns, or somewhere in between. The camera will tell the truth.

Strike your holiday pose. Our custom-built space comfortably accommodates up to 3 guests for maximum visual impact. (Traveling as a family of 4? No worries, we can stretch the rules to fit your full party.)

Collect your evidence. Your session includes 2 high-resolution digital downloads of your choice, viewable through your personal gallery. Feeling extra festive? You can upgrade to the full digital collection or add holiday prints and bundles right at the booth.

The Naughty & Nice Books
Choose your side and add your portrait to the Naughty or Nice Book with a donation to The Trevor Project. Every participant receives the digital edition through their gallery — and we’ll reveal which list wins at the end of HolMat.
For every Naughty & Nice Book entry, Studio Shay will donate $4 directly to The Trevor Project to support life-saving crisis services for LGBTQ+ youth.

Visit the Studio Shay intake desk to secure your session. When the line is full, you’ll receive a Behavior Report Card marking your alignment — Naughty, Nice, or Chaotic Holiday Neutral.

03.Watch for Your Number
We’ll reveal Advent Calendar numbers at the booth throughout the day. When your number is opened, return to the studio during that window to begin your portrait experience. Please note: To respect everyone's con time, your guaranteed "skip-the-line" window expires at the end of your window. Keep a close eye on the clock, travelers!
Behavior report cards are limited
04.Enter the Studio
Hand your Behavior Report Card to our attendant and step onto the set. Whether you’re halo‑bright or horn‑bold, we’ll guide you through a fast, flattering holiday portrait session. If you happen to miss your window, do not panic-your $40 contract is still valid! However, you will be placed into our Standby Queue, and we will slide you into the booth at the next available opening between on-time guests.
A note on Misplaced Behavior
If you wander a little too long and miss your return window, don’t worry — your session isn’t lost. Your Behavior Report Card remains valid. You’ll be placed into our Standby Queue, and we’ll call you in as soon as space opens between punctual elves and troublemakers.

How long does a session take?
Most sessions are take just a few minutes.You'll get access to your digital gallery as soon as it's uploaded.
Do I need to book ahead?
No scheduling needed! We run a walk-up system to keep things easy and flexible so you can stop by whenever it fits your day. If the line gets long, we'll use our Hall Pass system so you can explore the con while holding your place.
What do I get with my session?
You receive an email with a private online gallery. Two digital downloads are included with your session fee. Within your gallery, you'll have the option to upgrade to the full (digital) gallery.
Can I bring friends?
Yes! But keep in mind that due to our small footprint we can only accommodate groups up to 3 per session. If you'd like larger group pictures, you may inquire for after-hours pricing.
Do you offer prints on the spot?
Yes. You can choose 4x6 or 2x6 strips. Or the full printed gallery.
Can I get the full gallery?
Yes. The All Inclusive option gives you every image plus the full printed set (10 prints).
What if I'm in cosplay?
Perfect! This booth is designed for cosplayers, and creators who want clean, flattering portraits.
How do I receive my digital photos?
Your gallery is delivered instantly by email. It will be up for 30 days from the final day of the event.
What kind of payments do you accept?
We accept tap, swipe, chip, and cash. Fast and simple.
